About the Designer
Born in Florence, Massimo Mariani grew up in Genoa and studied architecture at the local University, graduating in 1990. The degree project with Giancarlo De Carlo regarded the renewal of the Old Port in Genoa.
In 1991 started collaboration with Renzo Piano Building Workshop to work on the redevelopment of the Lingotto factory in Turin. He later joined Herman Hertzberger Architectuurstudio in Amsterdam as designer of various projects in Italy, Germany and Japan. In 1998 moved to London to work freelance on architectural projects and master plans in the United Kingdom.
He set up a private practice in London in 2001 focusing on architectural competitions, urban renewal studies and product design research. His works have been shown at exhibitions in Milan, New York, Shanghai, Berlin and London.
