epoxy-powder coated metal. Shade disc in extra clear tempered
satin-finish white glass or red satin-finish. Bowl in blown

About the Designers
Giovanella Formica and Beppe Caturegli grow up in the cultural
environment of the radical architecture in Florence where they
graduate in 1982. Later on they moved to Milan where they
start a long and intense cooperation with Sottsass, the Memphis
Group and the magazine Terrazzo. In 1987 they open their own
studio in Milan. Being for over than ten years consultants for
a leading software manufacturer, they design the offices in
Milan and Rome.
Defining the atmospheric perception of balance of the sensorial,
emotional, and rational components characterize an environment
or a project: a kind of combined magic appearing in the signs
and in the syntax of simple objects of everyday life. For
Fontana Arte, they have designed along with Metis the
hanging lamp, Sonmi.
Architects Marinella Patetta and Claudio Valent, in 1989,
after they attended the Master of Lighting Design and the
many working experiences where they cooperate in important
light technique designing projects, such as the Gare
d'Orsay in Paris and the Palazzo Grassi in Venice, founded
the company Metis Lighting srl. Metis mainly takes care of
lighting and industrial design for lighting devices. In
these recent years the professional activity was sided
by a research and educational activities at the Faculty
of Industrial Design of the Politecnico University of
Milan.
