Umbrella Stand by Design House Stockholm. Eva Schildtï¾’s umbrella stand is not only a functional design piece, itï¾’s also an Yves Klein inspired sculpture, with its artificial sponge and the cheeky frame in lacquered steel.
The frame is made of blue steel, which is an important element of the design process. The austerity of the steel is a perfect contrast to the softness of the sponge and the blue colour represents both water and the sky.
About the Designer
Eva studied furniture and product design at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm. Soon after graduation in 2001 she received a number of significant design awards in Sweden. Her Gardenerï¾’s Sofa and Table won the Excellent Swedish Design award in 2002, and is featured in the Design Collection at the National Museum in Stockholm.
