design by Joe Colombo
Joe Colombo - one of the undisputed masters of design - designed the Bolle lamp in 1964, at a time when pure geometric shapes (cylinders, circles, etc.) were favored for mass produced objects. This floor lamp consists of an inner cylindrical satin-finish methacrylate frame. Seven glossy painted perforated rings are threaded onto this frame. By rotating them one at a time, it is possible to adjust the luminous intensity and create all kinds of different lighting effects. Depending on the arrangement of the perforations, the lamp can be used to read, light the room, or create a soft, almost lunar light.
