Collection: Essey

Danish designer John Brauer was walking past a Parisian café when he noticed something: a square tablecloth draped over a round table, its corners nearly touching the floor, looked exactly like a side table with legs. That moment of sideways observation became the Illusion Table — one of the most photographed and recognizable pieces of Scandinavian design in the past two decades. Each Essey Illusion table is handmade from 3mm acrylic, carefully heated and formed so that it appears, impossibly, to be a cloth draped over a table. No two are identical. The same wit and material intelligence runs through Essey's entire collection, including the award-winning Biuriful bin. Available at MetropolitanDecor.com as an authorized retailer.
